Unique golf club partnership launched

Three south west golf clubs have created a unique golf club partnership in which members of one venue receive full membership of the other two for free.

Reciprocal deals, in which members of one club can play at other courses at discounted rates or for free up to a certain number of rounds, have been popular in the industry for a number of years, but this deal is believed to be the first of its kind.

The ‘Golden Triangle Membership’ involves Lostwithiel Golf and Country Club in Cornwall, Boringdon Park Golf Club in Plymouth and Trethorne Golf Club in Launceston. Five-day single membership for the category can be purchased for about £500.

A spokesman said: “The Golden Triangle Membership offers a new and exciting era for the development of these forward thinking clubs. We aim to achieve 500 members in the next year.

“It is an automatic upgrade for members of the clubs so there is no need for them to do anything. We are sure that this innovative membership will only enhance their golfing experiences.

“Simply join either of these three clubs as a seven or five-day member and receive full membership rights at the other two clubs.

“There are no catches or hidden extras – it is genuinely a unique offer.”

Jon Grainger, director at Trethorne, added: “This membership package offers true value for money and there is no other club in the south west that can match it. It is totally unique.

“The current economic climate is really forcing golf operators to look at alternative ways of offering true value for money to its customers and I believe this package delivers just that.”
