15 quotes that will make you think differently about snobbery in golf

Authorities in the Wirral are launching a series of programmes in the run up to the Open at Royal Liverpool to challenge the public’s perception of golf as being steeped in snobbery.

Wirral’s community golf development officer, Neil Price, admitted: “Golf is perceived to be expensive, exclusive and something you do when you’re old,” while local councillor Chris Meaden, added: “There are barriers that prevent people from taking part in golf. It is still seen by some as elitist.”

However, these quotes from those involved in some way in golf may challenge the way the public feel about golf’s snobbery and perceived exclusivity.
