Golf partnership brings in £500K
A golf partnership between three clubs and five hotels says it has been so successful that it has generated nearly half a million pounds in spending in just the last two years – even though it only operates in three off-season months every year.
‘Highland Golf Links’, a partnership between Castle Stuart Golf Links, The Nairn Golf Club and Royal Dornoch Golf Club, is a sign that golf clubs that work together can generate more revenue than those that operate on their own.
The golf partnership was set up in 2011 and offers packages to visitors in which they can play at two or three of the clubs at rates cheaper than if they were booking green fees and hotel accommodation separately.
The deals are only available in the months of April, October and November, but despite those restrictions the golf partnership has booked more than 1,500 packages since opening.
This represents more than 4,000 rounds of golf played and spending worth nearly half a million pounds.
Fraser Cromarty, chairman of Highland Golf Links, said: “Visitors expect very high standards at our courses and hotels and we constantly strive to ensure we match those expectations and provide a product in keeping with our wonderful destination.”
Clubs forming reciprocal deals with other clubs has been an industry trend in recent months.
Four golf clubs, South Pembrokeshire, Tenby, Milford Haven and Haverfordwest, joined forced to create ‘Golf 4 Pembrokeshire (G4P)’, a group that provides discounted green fees for members of one of the clubs at the other three. Scotscraig, Lundin, Ladybank and Crail golf clubs also formed ‘Links with History’, aimed more at visitors, and Trethorne, Boringdon Park and Lostwithiel golf clubs announced that if you join any of those three clubs you will receive full membership rights at the other two clubs.
