Golf is a very popular sport to bet on and with the improvement in technology, you can now stream golf tournaments live and easily follow your favourite players.

Golf is one of the highest paying sports in the world with top golfers earning around $150 million. Numerous corporations including sportsbooks are now cashing in on the sports as major sponsors. As a result of these, so many lucrative golf offers are available to bettors for both minor and major PGA, Champions Tour, European Tour, and also LPGA events. Golf betting is quite lucrative for bettors who understand the game perfectly. If this is your first time hearing about golf betting, then stay tuned as we take you through its fundamentals.

Outright result bet

Outright result betting is the simplest wager to place. It is also one of the most popular pre-event golf markets to bet on. All that is required of you is to place your wager on whom you think will be the tournament champion. This is a very attractive bet to place as a large field means that decent odds will be offered by bookmakers. Sportsbooks compete for this bet, so do ensure that you check the offers of the sportsbooks and compare the odds to get the best possible outright bet.

Many sportsbooks offer enhanced odds for outright bets, particularly for major tournaments. These odds are usually offered by sportsbooks to entice bettors to place more wagers with them. The odds of popular golfers are also enhanced.

Another popular form of outright bet is the betting without. In this case, you will be wagering on the whole field but with a group of players or a particular player exempted (usually the favorite(s). The odds of betting without are usually smaller than the main outright bet, but it boosts your chance of winning by giving you a much better chance.

The dead heat

The scoring nature of golf is such that players are usually tied at the tail end of the game. Where this happens, the sportsbook will pay winnings on the tied positions. However, there is usually no dead heat when it comes to the first position but if this occurs, the tied players will engage in a playoff. If the match is settled by a playoff between the tied golfers, the wager will be decided depending on the official finishing position broadcasted by the governing bodies for the competition.

Top finish bets

This bet is similar to place betting. With top finish bet, you are wagering on the player who you think will finish in the top of the table at the conclusion of the tournament, or the thirty-six holes or eighteen holes.

Numerous types of top finish betting are available to bettors based on the field size, tournament, and the sportsbooks. The popular top finish bets you will come across are the top 20, 10, 6, 5, 4, 3 finishes, and many more.

Group betting

With Group betting, you can place wagers on the smaller crops of players picked by the sportsbook. This bet is very important in the sense that bettors can exclude outright leaders from their wagers. The odds placed on the player to win a group will be quite smaller than the odds placed on them to win the tournament.

Other forms of golf betting include the 2 Ball and 3 Ball Golf Betting, the Accumulator, Cut, Round, and Hole Betting, Special, and Props Bet.
