Armed robbery at London golf club thwarted
An armed robbery at Perival Park Golf Club in London has been thwarted by firearms officers, the Flying Squad – and a 66-year-old woman who was about to have a lesson at the club. Late last month men with covered faces ran into the back of the clubhouse and threatened a security guard, who was collecting cash, with a knife before making off with a cash box containing £3,500.
During the attempted escape, one of the men allegedly knocked a member of the Metropolitan Police’s firearms’ unit unconscious, before being detained, a second man was arrested nearby by other firearms’ officers and a third man was grabbed by the woman. The police paid tribute to the woman, all the cash was recovered and three men have been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey in January.
